Halloween is just around the corner, which means you might be looking for some last-minute plans to keep the tradition alive. Sadly this year, you can’t take the little ones trick-or-treating in the capital. However, there are plenty of things you can do at home to keep it safe. Throw a costume party online 

We know it’s not quite the same, but this is the perfect opportunity to dress up in your Halloween costume. Of course, the best part is the chance to show it off to your best friends and family. You could connect through the old Zoom account, the Houseparty app or otherwise.  

Make Halloween-themed treats  

From eye ball cake pops to caramel-dipped apples to ghost cookies, you can really get creative by cooking and baking some tasty treats. 

Trick-or-treat from the comfort of home 

Now is the time to get creative to keep the little ones happy with that sugar rush! You could set up a candy scavenger hunt around the house. Otherwise, why not create different zones where your kids can pick up candy? There are so many little games you play along the way to make it extra special. The good news is, you can keep warm too!  

Spooky movie marathon 

Ever wanted to show your kids your favourite family friendly Halloween movies? Make a list featuring some of the fun classics like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown and “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and get that movie marathon going. However, for older kids, you can probably throw a couple of scarier titles in there, too like Beetlejuice, Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas.   

Carve a pumpkin or two 

You could have your kids carve their own pumpkins to get in on the fun of decorating, too! Just make sure the tools are age-appropriate and that you make the big cuts! Afterwards, you’ll have some great decorations to show for it.

Have a dance party  

You can’t go wrong with a Halloween-themed dance party. Need some song ideas? “The Monster Mash”, “A Nightmare on my Street” and “I Put A Spell on You” are just a few recommendations off of our list!
