Now when it comes to matriarchs in Hip-Hop, the name Queen Latifah will always go down in history as one of the all-time greats! Born Dana Owens, Queen Latifah grew from a well-versed basketball player from Irvington, New Jersey, USA into one of the most iconic figures in Hip-Hop Culture. Whether she was laying down bars in the booth over the past three decades or making appearances on the big screen in some of her legendary roles like “Cleo” in Set It Off or her award-winning role of “Mama” in Chicago, she is undoubtedly one of the most profound figures, not only in Hip-Hop, but global pop culture in general. As of March 18th, 2021 Queen Latifah turned 51 and with that, we say Happy Birthday Queen!
