A mother-daughter duo is bringing the Inaugural Indigenous Women’s Leadership Summit to the Ottawa-Gatineau area next month.
Laurie Sterritt and Nicole Taylor-Sterritt are coordinating the summit and have said their mission is to bring this network of women together to connect and inspire each other. The two-day summit at the Canadian Museum of History will include facilitated workshops on career paths, business management and how to be a brave-hearted leader. There will also be guided exercises, keynote speeches and discussion panels.
Participants will learn from and interact with inspiring women including Olympian Waneek Horn-Miller, singer-actress Andrea Menard and lawyer Jodie-Lynn Waddilove.
A market of products created by Indigenous artisans will be held at the museum during the two days. The event will also host a silent auction to raise funds for the Indigenous Women’s Entrepreneurship Fund.
The summit runs from November 15-17 with a closing reception at the Delta Ottawa City Centre.
