Family Friendly New Year’s Celebrations In Ottawa

In a pinch? Wrap yourself up in warm clothes, grab some hot cocoa and head to the hill. This fireworks display will have you excited for 2019!

City Hall is decked out as usual with a beautiful display of lights. They’ve got even more planned for the new year, with family friendly activities, free hot cocoa and hotdogs too. While this whole experience has a lot to offer, you’ll surely love to see the lighting of the giant cauldron in Marion Dewer Plaza.

Check out this fifth annual event put on by The Scottish Society of Ottawa. Not only is Lansdowne Park the perfect place for a New Year’s countdown, but they offer a Kids Countdown at 7:00 pm as well. The Hogmanay offers a KidZone from 5:00-8:00 pm, including balloon twisting, face painting, crafts and dancing! Enjoy a fireworks display at midnight too.

This is your one stop for all things fun for the family. There are indoor and outdoor activities for everyone, including a skating rink, bouncy castle, sleigh and train rides, a colouring area, face painting and a ginger bread house building competition. On top of this, enjoy live entertainment and a countdown to the New Year with fireworks. Wow! Talk about the real deal.

Opt for an indoor celebration to ring in the new year! The City View Curling Club puts on a lovely annual event including cocktails, a delicious roast beef and a live DJ, plus a glass of champagne at the countdown! You won’t want to miss this.
