What’s Happening in Ottawa in May 2019

There’s no shortage of things to get up to this month! We’ve put together some of the events we’re looking forward to in Ottawa. What’s on your list?

Readers, writers and creators alike will enjoy the Ottawa International Writer’s Festivals featuring a diverse range of authors and works from May 2nd to May 7th.

The Ottawa Children’s Festival brings together art installations, theatre, sports and more for kids to enjoy. Check out the Ottawa Children’s Festival, happening May 8th-12th.

Theland Kicknosway brings Ottawa his 5th annual run to support Families of Sisters in Spirit, which supports loved ones of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. The run has raised $5000 over the years and is happening at Algonquin College on May 11th.

Brighten up your day at the Canadian Tulip Festival, an annual Ottawa tradition over 60 years old! Tulips are an international symbol of friendship and peace. Enjoy the Tulip Festival from May 10th-May 20th.

Comic Con is the place to share in your favourite interests and the celebrities behind them. Special guests this year include Tom Felton, Ron Perlman, Pom Klementieff and Tom Welling, and many more.

Indigenous Awareness Week ties together learning and fun with arts, crafts, dancing, music, teachings, food and good company. Check it out between May 22nd-May 24th.

The eclectic Hintonburg neighborhood brings together art, culture, makers and entertainment. Come out and enjoy a celebration of Hintonburg on May 24th-June 1st.

The Glebe neighbourhood-wide garage sale is the perfect place to be to find something well-loved and unique for your home. Check it out on May 25th!

Celebrate in Indigenous culture at Odawa Friendship Centre’s Pow Wow with great food, traditional dance and gorgeous regalia. It’s happening on May 25th-26th.

It’s Canada biggest marathon weekend so strap on your runners and get ready! There are a variety of races you can sign up for and lots of room to watch if running long distances isn’t your thing. It’s happening on May 26th.
