Gatineau Park to re-open to locals on the weekend

The National Capital Commission says it will re-open Gatineau Park this weekend, but it should only be accessed by local residents. The NCC says locals should only go to the park by foot or by bike as of Saturday.

This is in line with the provincial government’s plan to re-open the economy. While this does include re-opening the Outaouais, those plans will exclude any interprovincial travel between residents living in Ontario and Quebec.

Parking will be prohibited on roads near the park. The NCC says anyone living in bordering municipalities should not go to the park.

Last week the NCC shared a three-phase plan to fully open its parks and green spaces. The second phase will include broadening public access to spaces like Gatineau Park, while the third phase will aim for a return to normal use.
