Ottawa’s top doctor set to make masks mandatory in indoor public spaces

Ottawa’s top doctor, Vera Etches, is set to announce plans to make masks mandatory in indoors public spaces Monday. This comes after Dr. Etches said she was considering following other Ontario cities in issuing the policy.

Mayor Jim Watson has previously said he will support Etches in the decision. The four health units making up the Champlain region are looking at a regional approach to mandate cloth masks in those areas. That information is also expected to be made public Monday.

Outside of the expected announcement from Dr. Etches, the issue will make its way to city council next week. That will be voted on July 15th.
