COVID-19 Ottawa:

There are 28 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ottawa Monday.

2443 cases have been reported in the capital throughout the pandemic, with 78 per cent of patients recovered. There are 265 active cases in the city. No new deaths were reported Monday, leaving that number at 263.

COVID-19 Ontario:

Across Ontario there are 119 new cases and one new death related to the virus Monday.

There are 102 new resolved cases reported. The total number of cases now stands at nearly 38900, which includes 2764 deaths.

Ontario Promises Funding For Municipalities:

The Ontario government says municipalities will receive up to $4-billion in funding to help cover the costs incurred due to the pandemic, with up to half earmarked for public transit.

Details on how this money from the province and the federal government will be allocated to Ontario’s 444 municipalities will be released in the next few weeks.

Police Need Help Identifying Suspect:

Ottawa Police are asking for your help in identifying a suspect in connection with an unspecified incident at Billings Bridge Sunday.

Though no details about the incident were released, investigators say the man is considered violent, and that you should not approach him.

More Cooling Centres Opened:

The city has opened up some extra cooling centres, if you need a break from the heat and humidity Monday.

You can go to the Heron Road Community Centre, Carlington Recreation Centre, or the Plant Recreation Centre to cool off. They are open until 7:00 pm.  The heat warning issued by Environment Canada is expected to attend Tuesday when a cool air mass moves into our region.

CRA Extends Tax Payment Deadline:

Anyone who owes the federal government taxes will now have until the end of September to pay.

The Canada Revenue Agency says the payment deadline has been moved to September 30 for individuals, corporations and trusts that had various deadlines through the month. Penalties and interest on owed taxes on a 2019 return will accrue if payments aren’t made by the new deadline.
