Tornado Warning Ended:

Environment Canada has ended a Tornado Warning issued for Ottawa and surrounding areas Monday evening.

The warning read, “At 5:39 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.”

However, it was ended just before 6:30 pm. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning, suggesting a tornado was still possible, was issued shortly after.

COVID-19 Ottawa:

Ottawa Public Health is reporting nineteen new confirmed COVID-19 cases Monday.

That moves the city’s total of confirmed cases throughout the pandemic to 2,720, with 122 active cases, and 85 per cent of patients recovered. No new deaths related to the virus have been reported in almost three weeks, with that number staying at 264.

COVID-19 Ontario:

Ontario has 99 new cases Monday.

83 more resolved cases were reported. The total number of cases now stands at 40,745, which includes 2,789 deaths and 37,036 cases marked as resolved.

Ottawa Police Launch Another Neighborhood Resource Team:

Ottawa Police have activated a Neighborhood Resource Team in the Bayshore area two months ahead of schedule.

The force had announced plans to launch a team in Bayshore in October. The move was partly in response to a recent spike in shootings in the area.

Six Stunt Driving Charges Laid:

Ottawa Police insist that excessive speeding remains a serious concern in the Capital.

Just this past weekend alone, officers charged six drivers with stunt driving, which comes with a license suspension and vehicle impound.

The force says the latest incident happened around 11:00 pm Sunday on Ridgewood Drive in the Mooney’s Bay area, where residents complained about two drivers street racing.
