Hey everyone! Weekly Round-Up is back from its hiatus after I took some vacation time. I really leaned into the beauty of the staycation and visited a lot of gorgeous places in and around the Ottawa area. I hope everyone enjoys the last few days before we had back-to-school.
Registration is open for the city’s annual fall clean-up program. You can register to clean up areas around your neighbourhood.
You can catch Amanda Rheaume perform through the Ottawa Public Library next week. The Ottawa Live & Local highlights local artists.
What to watch, listen to, read and eat this weekend
Watch: I can’t suggest Little Fires Everywhere over on Prime enough. The tale features some powerhouses like Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon and is relevant amid the global conversation about racism.
Listen: With a physical distancing VMAs on the way Sunday, now is the time to catch up with the nominees. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are leading the way with the most nominations.
Read: I’m currently reading Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice; this book is unbelievably relevant to 2020. Scenes like depleted grocery stores and non-Indigenous people trying to take refuge in Indigenous communities are a little too familiar.
Eat: Now’s a really great time prep your freezer for back to school season! I made an industrial amount of turkey lasagna over the weekend, so I feel good knowing I have something quick if I get busy this fall.
