What’s Open and Closed in Ottawa on Thanksgiving Weekend 2020

Wondering what’s going to be open and closed in the nation’s capital this long weekend? We’ve got the full details.

SHOPPING

  • All malls are closed Monday, with the exception of Rideau Centre which will be OPEN from 10 AM to 6 PM.
  • Some businesses in the ByWard Market and in the Glebe are allowed to open on Monday. Contact individual businesses for hours of operation.

GROCERY/LCBO

  • All LCBO and The Beer Store outlets will be CLOSED on Monday.
  • Select grocery stores will remain open with holiday hours:
    • Farm Boy in the Rideau Centre will be OPEN Monday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
    • Loblaws on Rideau Street and Isabella Street will be OPEN Monday from 7 AM to 10 PM.
    • Whole Foods at Lansdowne will be OPEN Monday from 7 AM to 5 PM.

RECREATION & CULTURE

  • All Ottawa Public Library Branches will be CLOSED on Monday.
  • Municipal museums, art galleries and theatres will be CLOSED on Monday.
  • Several of Ottawa’s national museums will be open all weekend and on Thanksgiving Monday, operating on reduced hours. Admission to each museum will require advance booking.
    • The National Gallery of Canada will be OPEN from 10 AM to 5 PM.
    • Canada Agriculture and Food Museum will be OPEN from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
    • The Canada Aviation and Space Museum will be OPEN 10 AM to 4 PM.
    • Canada Science and Technology Museum will be OPEN from 10 AM to 4 PM.
    • The Ottawa Art Gallery, The Diefenbunker, The Canadian Museum of History and The Canadian War Museum will all be CLOSED on Monday.

*Effective Saturday, October 10, all of the following facilities will be closed temporarily for 28 days:

  • Indoor gyms and fitness centres
  • Casinos, bingo centres and other gaming establishments
  • Cinemas
  • Performing art centres and venues
  • Spectator areas in racing venues

TRANSIT AND PARKING

  • All OC Transpo and LRT services will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
  • O-Train Line (Confederation Line) will run from 8 AM to 11 PM.
  • O-Train Line 2 (Trillium Line) replacement bus services will operate from 7:30 AM to 11 PM.
  • Para Transpo will operate on a holiday schedule.
  • All City of Ottawa parking regulations and restrictions will apply on Monday. Free parking will be available at City Hall from Friday at 6 PM until Tuesday at 6 AM.

CITY SERVICES

  • There will be no curb-side garbage, green bin and recycling pickup on Monday. All garbage pickups for multi-residential complexes will be unaffected.
  • The Trail Road Waste Facility will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM on Monday.

HEALTH AND COVID-19

  • The Moodie Care Clinic will be OPEN from 9 AM to 3:30 PM on Monday.
  • The Heron Care Clinic will be OPEN from 9 AM to 3:30 PM on Monday.
  • The Brewer Assessment Centre and CHEO Assessment Centre will be OPEN from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM on Monday.
  • The COVID-19 Drive-Thru Assessment Centre on Coventry Road will be CLOSED on Monday and the clinic at Ray Friel complex in Orleans will also be closed.

CITY OF OTTAWA SERVICES

  • Ottawa’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will remain OPEN for urgent matters that require the city’s immediate attention.
  • All City of Ottawa’s child-care centres will be CLOSED on Monday.
  • Ottawa City Hall and all client service centres will also be CLOSED on Monday.
