Santa is still coming to malls this holiday season; with Covid-19 restrictions in place

Your visit with Santa may look a little different at Ottawa malls this year. While most have either cancelled their Santa visits or made it virtual, a few are still proceeding with Covid-19 restrictions in place.

Most of Ottawa’s largest malls have recently announced that they will not be proceeding with Santa visits as originally planned due to Covid-19. This includes: Bayshore Shopping Centre, St-Laurent Mall, Place d’Orléans Shopping Centre and Rideau Centre.

There are still other ways to celebrate with Santa. Place d’Orléans Shopping Centre has a life-size cutout of Santa visitors can take a selfie with. You will also be able to watch a Facebook Live story time with Santa on Rideau Centre’s Facebook Page.

So far, some other malls are proceeding with in-person Santa visits. Carlingwood Shopping Centre and Hazeldean Mall both have details on their websites outlining how the visits will proceed with Covid-19 restrictions in place. This may include physical distancing from Santa for the photo, Covid-19 screening, sanitizing and appointment-only visits. Visit the mall event pages for more information!
