Julian Taylor, Crystal Shawanda & Leela Gilday are 2021 Juno Award Nominees

The Junos have announced this year’s nominees! Here’s some of the highlights: 

This year’s category for Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year, as presented by APTN, is stacked! Burnstick, Crystal Shawanda, Leela Gilday, Terry Uyarak and ELMNT FM’s own, Julian Taylor have been nominated for their musical contributions. Julian Taylor (The Ridge) and Leela Gilday (Church House Blues) are also up for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year, alongside William Prince (Reliever), Rose Cousins and Tami Neilson. As well, Crystal Shawanda is up for Blues Album of the Year while Crown Lands are up for Breakthrough Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year. Lido Pimienta’s album, Miss Colombia, is up for Best Album Artwork.  

Meanwhile, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Céline Dion, Leonard Cohen and Ali Gatie are up for Album of the Year. International Album of the Year is Eminem, Taylor Swift, Popsmoke, Harry Styles and Luke Combs. When it comes to Song of the Year, it’s between The Weeknd’s, Blinding Lights, Justin Bieber’s, Intentions (feat. Quavo), Lennon Stella’s, Kissing Other People, JP Saxe’s If the World Was Ending (feat. Julia Michaels) and Brett Kissel’s, Drink About Me. Justin Bieber, Johnny Orlando, Lennon Stella, JP Saxe and Ryland James are up for Pop Album of the Year.  

Ottawa’s own, Alanis Morrisette is up for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
