Interprovincial Border Restrictions in Effect

Ottawa Police have begun screening travelers from Quebec at all Ottawa-area interprovincial border crossings.

The measures, announced Friday, came into effect at midnight.

Only those coming into Ontario for work, medical care, transportation of goods and exercising Indigenous treaty rights will be allowed through the crossings.

Officers will be stationed on a 24-7 basis on the Ontario side of the Champlain, Portage, Chaudière and Macdonald-Cartier bridges as well as the Quyon and the Bourbonnais ferries.

It’s the same for the Alexandra Bridge, as the Provincial Order also applies to pedestrians and cyclists.

The force says officers will be focusing on education and awareness in the initial 24-72 hours of the operation.
