Stay Home Club with Jill Kennedy: April 19-25

Happy weekend! This week has had a lot of ups and downs with snow in the mix and then the paid sick time saga, but we’re ending it off with sunshine and confirmation that there will, indeed be a paid sick day program in Ontario.

In the meantime, you might need some stuff to do to keep you going through this stay at home order.

[Watching]

It’s Always Sunny in Philidelphia was recently added to Disney+ and fans are going absolutely wild. My partner has raved about this since we got together, so I thought I’d give it a shot. It’s pretty much Seinfeld if the characters were ten times more morally corrupt and bad. They take it as far as they possibly can in each episode, which is both shocking and funny. I can’t say I can marathon this show, but a few episodes back to back is entertaining.

[Listening]

I’ve been bumping Ruby Waters’ tunes lately, particularily, “Blow, which you may have heard here on ELMNT FM. I had the pleasure of connecting with Ruby this week to talk about it and it was so much fun to learn about here story. Check out our chat here:

[Reading]

I finally cracked the spine of Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. It’s been years since I read Slaughter House Five, so I thought why not? It’s a satire and commentary on modern man and science, but if I’m being honest, I won’t know what this is about until I’m done! If you’re someone who has trouble concentrating (me!), this book is perfect. The chapters are short and easy to read.

[Spending Time]

I’ve been embracing that home décor life a little more lately, so I ordered a couple things to spruce up my patio and apartment. Because thrifting isn’t quite as easy of an option, I ordered curbside from a few local department stores like Simon’s and Canadian Tire to freshen up my space.
