The Polaris Long List was announced Tuesday, June 15th. It features 40 Canadian and Indigenous artists and the albums they put out in 2020 and 2021. The list doesn’t focus on genre or sales, but on artistic merit.

This year’s list features a great array of artists including ELMNT FM‘s own host of The Cruise in Toronto, Julian Taylor, as well as Charlotte Cardin, Leanna Betasamosake Simpson, Zoon, Kathleen Edwards and The Weather Station.

Check out the full list here. The Polaris Short List, which is comprised of 10 albums, will be announced on July 15th. The winner of the Polaris Music Prize will receive $50,000. The nine other short listed artists will receive $3000 courtesy of Slaight Music.
