If you take the 174 on your daily commute, you might want to take a detour for the next few days. A section of Highway 174 will be closed both ways from August 5th at 7 pm until August 9th at 5:30 am. The section that is closed off is in Ottawa‘s east end, between Cameron Street and Trim Road. According to the City of Ottawa‘s Twitter page, the closure is for stage 2 of the city’s LRT project.

Stage 2 of LRT is expected to extent Ottawa‘s light-rail system from the downtown core, all the way out to Trim Road in Orleans. The City of Ottawa expects this expansion to be completed sometime in 2024.
