Atlético Ottawa Celebrates Historical Home Game With “Pay What You Can” Event

Can you believe it’s been over 500 days since it was announced that Ottawa would be getting a Canadian Premier League soccer club? While the club started up, complications from the pandemic forced them to play all of their games away from home. So, Atlético Ottawa is celebrating their first-ever home game with a “Pay What You Want” ticket offer.

People that attend the home opener at TD Place tomorrow will be able to pay whatever they can for any available seat in the stadium. Prices start at $0 per ticket and move up in increments of $5, up to $50 per ticket. According to the club, this is to allow fans to get tickets at a price that best reflects their current financial situation.

In a press statement, Atlético Ottawa’s President and Strategic Partner Jeff Hunt said that “The pandemic has affected all of us. Many of our neighbours, friends, and colleagues have had a tough year, but there is light ahead…join us for this special return back to live sports and professional soccer in Ottawa!”

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, in order to support services for at-risk youth and their families.

Atlético Ottawa takes on the HFX Wanderers FC Saturday, August 14th at TD Place in Ottawa. The match starts at 3pm ET, and tickets can be purchased here.
