Three Things To Do In Ottawa This Weekend

With restrictions lightening up, events are slowly but surely coming back to Ottawa. With that in mind, here are three things that we recommend checking out in Ottawa this weekend!

3) Free Comic Book Day – The Comic Book Shoppe

Who doesn’t love free comic books? Whether you’re into Spider-Man and Batman, or you’re looking for something a little more sophisticated, Free Comic Book Day is a great chance to do a little bit of light reading, as well as broaden your horizons without putting a burden on your wallet. Free comics will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, so make sure to get there early! And it gets even better. If any graphic novels catch your eye, all graphic novels in store will be 25% off. So, it’s a great time to pick up any books you’ve had your eye on. Both The Comic Book Shoppe‘s Clyde Avenue and Bank Street locations will be participating in this event, so no matter where you live in the city, free comic books are not too far away. Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, August 14th. Click here to see what comics are being offered at this year’s event. Click here for store hours and contact information for both Comic Book Shoppe locations.

2) A Midsummer Night’s Scream – Saunders Farm

Who says you can only celebrate Halloween in October? This weekend, Saunders Farm is offering a sneak preview of some of the attractions they have planned for FrightFest 2021. You’ll be able to check out The Coven, The Shambles, as well as The Sawmill. The Sawmill will only be available at Lansdowne during the month of October, so this will be your only chance to view it at the farm. You’ll even be able to check out the brand new Saunders Cider Taproom, as well as grab a bite to eat on the patio (if it doesn’t bite you first). A Midsummer Night’s Scream is happening Friday, August 13th as well as Saturday, August 14th. It’s guaranteed to be a spooktacular time! Click here for tickets and information.

1) Beyond Van Gogh – Aberdeen Pavillion, Landsdowne

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a Van Gogh painting? Well, you can find out at Beyond Van Gogh. It’s a beautifully immersive experience that puts you into the world of painter Vincent Van Gogh. As you walk through the exhibit, his paintings come to life through the use of cutting-edge projection technology. The exhibit is still going strong, but it’s only here through September 16th, so don’t put it off for too long. If you’d like to read more about our thoughts on the exhibit, click here. These aren’t the only events happening in the city this weekend either. If you haven’t already, click here to check out Atlético Ottawa’s “Pay What You Can” event happening this Saturday at TD Place.
