With live music slowly making its way back to Ottawa, music fans will have another venue to see shows at starting this Fall. Redbird Live is a new venue that is set to open on Bank Street in the Old Ottawa South neighbourhood. If everything goes according to plan, Redbird Live is set to open sometime in October.
However, owner Geoff Cass wants the venue to be used for more than live shows. Some of the things he has planned for Redbird Live include a coffee bar, as well as a space for music lessons for children.
As of Stage 3 of Ontario’s reopening plan, the venue will have the capacity for 50 socially distanced people. However, as things get closer to normal, the venue is expected to be able to hold closer to 100 people.
Cass wants the venue to focus on roots, folk, and Americana music. Ottawa-based folk band Moonfruits has already been booked to play the venue when it opens. Alex Millaire of Moonfruits has also signed up to give music lessons at the venue.
Redbird Live is set to open its doors on October 1st. For more information, click here.
