Here’s What Is Open In Ottawa This Labour Day Weekend

Are you excited for the Labour Day long weekend? Are you wondering how to plan your weekend errands? Here’s what’s open during the long weekend.

 

If you’re looking to do any shopping, most retail stores will be closed on Monday. However, if you need to grab some groceries, you do have some options. The Loblaws on Rideau Street will be open on Monday from 7 am to 11 pm. Likewise, the Whole Foods at Landsdowne will be open from 9 am to 9 pm on Monday. Pharmacies, including Shoppers Drug Mart locations, will also be open on Labour Day Monday. Lastly, if you’re looking to pick up any non-essentials, stores in the ByWard Market (including the Rideau Centre) will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. 

 

While all LCBO locations will be closed on Labour Day, select The Beer Store locations will be open on Monday from 10 am to 6 pm. To find a location near you, click here.

 

If you’re looking to go anywhere over the long weekend, overtime parking on residential streets is not being enforced. However, all other parking restrictions will remain in effect. If you’re taking transit, all OC Transpo services will be operating on a Sunday schedule for Labour Day Monday. Para Transpo will also be operating on a holiday schedule. If you require a COVID-19 test, or if you are looking to book an appointment for a vaccine, some locations will have adjusted hours from Friday, September 3rd to Monday, September 6th. The City of Ottawa will not be collecting green bins, recycling, or garbage on Monday. Instead, all Monday collections will be happening on Tuesday, and collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. If you live at a multi-residential property, such as an apartment complex, garbage will still be collected on its regular day. However, recycling and green bin collection will still be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
