No provincial holiday for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will not be considered a provincial statutory holiday in Ontario this year.

A spokesperson for Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford says the day will be treated similar to Remembrance Day.

A statement reads Ontario is “working in collaboration with Indigenous partners, survivors, and affected families to ensure the respectful commemoration of this day within the province, similar to Remembrance Day.”

The House of Commons named September 30th a statutory holiday for all federal employees and workers in federally regulated workplaces.
