Nominees for the 2022 Juno Awards were announced this morning, and it looks like it’ll be a big night for Canadian artists. Charlotte Cardin leads with six nominations, including Artist of the Year. Justin Bieber and The Weeknd both follow with five nominations.
It’s also going to be a big night for Indigenous artists. The Kid LAROI has a nomination for International Album of the Year for F*ck Love 3+: Over You. Ruby Waters earned a nomination for Alternative Album of the Year for If It Comes Down To It, and The Halluci Nation scored a nomination for Electronic Album of the Year for One More Saturday Night.
Adrian Sutherland, DJ Shub, Jayli Wolf, Shawnee Kish, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids are all nominated for Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year. Likewise, Fawn Wood, Joel Wood, Manitou Mkwa Singers, NIMKII & THE NINIIS, and Young Spirit are all nominated for Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year.
For the first time since 2019, The Juno Awards will hold a live ceremony from The Budweiser Stage in Toronto.
