Beloved comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at 67. His publicist has confirmed that the cause of death was related to complications from muscular dystrophy.
In a statement released on social media, Gottfried‘s family writes that “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor,”
To many, Gottfried was best known for his raunchy comedy, making memorable appearances at a number of celebrity roasts. He was also an accomplished actor, best known to many as the voice of Iago The Parrot in the 1992 Disney film Aladdin, and its various sequels and spin-offs.
He is survived by his wife Dara Kravitz, and his two children.
