The NCC has announced vehicle closures of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway, Sir John A Macdonald Parkway and Sir George-Etienne Cartier Parkway to allow more active transportation this spring and summer.
The Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be closed to vehicles between Fifth Avenue and Somerset Street from 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday starting May 14, and will be off limits to cars and trucks 24/7 between Canada Day and Labour Day. The road will be open for “active users” which includes pedestrians, cyclists, runners and rollerbladers.
Sections of the Sir John A MacDonald and Sir George Etienne-Cartier Parkways will be closed to vehicles and open to “active users” from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sunday from May 14 until October 10. The Sir John A MacDonald Parkway’s westbound lanes will be closed from Vimy Place to Carling Avenue and all lanes of the Sir George-Etienne Cartier Parkway will be closed between the Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Boulevard.
