The Vatican has announced this morning that Pope Francis will go to Edmonton, Iqaluit and Quebec City during a visit to Canada from July 24th to 29th.

Archbishop Richard Smith is the general co-ordinator of the visit for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

He says the 85-year-old pontiff’s mobility and health issues had to be considered when choosing locations.

The Pope apologized to Indigenous delegates visiting the Vatican last month for the church’s role in Canada’s residential schools.
