Ontario Summer Indigenous Game to take place in Algonquin Territory – Ottawa this year

The 2022 Ontario Summer Indigenous Games (2022 OSIG) are taking place from July 28-31, in the nation’s capital on the traditional territories of the Algonquin Peoples in partnership with the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, the Government of Ontario, City of Ottawa, Ottawa Tourism, and the University of Ottawa.

An opening ceremony will be hosted on the evening of July 28 at the University of Ottawa. The university is hosting the Athlete’s Village, medal ceremonies and a closing ceremony along with accommodations, meals, campus tours and various workshops.

The OSIG was founded by Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario (ISWO), the official Provincial/Territorial Aboriginal Sport Body for Ontario and serve as an identifier for athletes who aspire to compete at the North American Indigenous Games taking place in 2023.
