On October 4, annual Sisters in Spirit vigils take place all across Canada to honour and recognize missing and murdered Indigenous women, as well as gender-diverse, two-spirit, and transgender people. These vigils will not only be an opportunity to honour these people, but also to comfort the family and friends of those who we’ve lost.
Here in Ottawa, a march will take place starting at 6:30 PM. The march starts at the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s Social, Cultural and Economic and Innovation Centre, and will end at Parliament Hill, where a ceremony of remembrance will be offered.
