Groundhogs across the continent have given their answer today on whether or not their will be six more weeks of winter.

With a 50/50 split of groundhogs declarations, one groundhog saved the day for Canadians. Punxsutawney Phil saw no shadow, declaring an early spring. USAToday, an American news site, claims that this is the first time in four years that Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an early spring.

While Punxsutawney Phil may be an American groundhog, Phil is not the only groundhog to provide us with hope. According to the Weather Network, Ontario’s own groundhog, Wiarton Willie, stayed above ground after seeing a lack of shadow early this morning.
